For the 5k maniac. Run a qualifying 5k race in 20 cities surrounding Kansas City.

SMA Quick Facts
-On December 23, 2016 the FDA approved the FIRST EVER TREATMENT for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The drug Spinraza has shown incredible results in SMA patients who receive treatments shortly after birth.
-There are other promising treatments/cures currently in clinical trial.
-1 in every 40 people, or nearly 10 million Americans, UNKNOWINGLY carries the gene responsible for SMA. Few have any known family history.
- SMA is a genetic recessive disease that kills more babies than ANY other inherited disease. It is the number one genetic killer of children under the age of two.
- 50% of SMA Type I babies don't live to see their 1st birthday.
- 90% of SMA Type I babies don't live to see their 2nd birthday.
- There are four types of SMA Type I, II, III, and IV with type I being the most severe.

For the past two years, funds were raised for all Rolling Ridge students to run in The BUG RUN.
